The extra magnification is calculated by dividing your extension tube length by the focal length of your camera lens. Example: If you have a 100 mm lens and a 50 mm extension tube, the extra magnification is 50/100 = 0.5. It is important to note that this is additional magnification. Each lens has a defined magnification at its Minimum Focusing
"When judging load capacity, remember that one of the main reasons for owning a tripod is to accommodate camera/lens combinations that are too heavy to hand-hold." Good advice but a tripod that is the best in the world isn't any good at all if you can't carry it. I is too darn expensive and you c

In reply to thien nguyen • Jan 7, 2008. The formula to calculate the magnification with extension tube is. length of the extension tube / focal length of the lens + the maximum magnification of the lens. This applies only when the lens is focused at the closest focusing distance, i.e, at the maximum magnification. --.
A mount adapter is mounted on the camera, where it stays mounted to the camera. I categorize extension tubes as mount adapters, which means they mount to the camera and stay there. The EF-RF mount adapters for the R Series bodies are needed for adapting EF mount lenses. Adding one extension tube to a body is fine.

I have the Canon EF 25 II extension tube and the Canon 1.4 III extender, so I just checked to see if it would fit. They attached together easily, but was very hard to take back apart, in fact, I got that sinking feeling when you know you messed up, but with a little patience and light pulling, it came apart.
That I agree with, 25mm seems a bit much. 12mm should be better manageable. I checked the Canon web site - it quotes 0.45x-0.23x with the 12 mm tube but then warns that the extension tube is only compatible at the tele end, so that must be 0.45x at MFD and 0.23x with the lens set to infinity focus.
Posted May 13, 2007. Kenko makes a set of three tubes and individual 12mm and 25mm tubes, labelled "Uniplus". The Uniplus tubes are virtual twins of the Canon tubes. The three piece set may be more cheaply made. The Uniplus tubes function flawlessly.
